Who We are

Document Actions

First and foremost, we are Christians, that is, followers of God’s Son Jesus Christ, who, through his life and by his death is able to forgive us our failings, and heal our broken relationships, first with God, and then with each other.

We are members of the worldwide Anglican Communion, a fellowship of more than 70 million Christians that developed from the Church of England.  The Anglican Communion is a collection of 38 individual churches.  Many, like the Anglican Church in Nigeria, make their home in the global south.  We are united not only by our historical ties, but also by our form of worship, which is based on a common prayer book, and our system of church government, which is ordered around an overseer, called a bishop.

We are members of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America.  Founded in the wake of the Revolutionary war, the Episcopal Church includes more than 7,000 churches and 2.2 million members in 110 dioceses, of which we are one.

We are members of the Anglican Communion Network.  A group based within the Episcopal Church, the Anglican Communion Network is a gathering of some 200,000 Anglican Christians as a Biblically-driven missionary movement of dioceses and congregations committed to the telling of the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ.
